HERBERT NYARKO

 

Every month, we feature a story on a student that is doing something exceptioal at Bronx Prep. This month, we have featured our student body president, Herbert Nyarko.



This has been quite a year for Bronx Preparatory Charter School. In addition, this has also been quite a year for senior, Herbert Nyarko.We expect to hear a lot more about Herbert Nyarko before he graduates.

 

With a vision in mind, Herbert purchased a professional camera and began taking pictures at school events. “We don’t have any pictures of the stuff that goes on at school,” Herbert explained. “At the end of the year, everyone is always struggling to find pictures for the yearbook. So it ends up being ugly and pixelated pictures.” To combat this, Herbert took it upon himself to be at as many school events as possible. He would take pictures and put them in an album for students and faculty to access. It wasn’t long until his efforts were recognized. Herbert was recently asked to be the head photographer and photography director for the upcoming annual school musical. “I didn’t think the adults would notice. I just wanted my friends and senior class to have good pictures for themselves,” Herbert continued. Despite his intention, he will have his first paying photography gig on December 9th – 11th at the Bronx Prep auditorium.
